Jean Harlow Barely a deux-pièces

Poolside
le. 1937 JH3710

Costume
Cape over halter and briefs deux-pieces. Heels.

   TML. Bellage.

Actions
Harlow leans on a pool ladder (1), then sits up and looks at the camera as her cape flies (2).

Commentary
This swimming costume is barely a deux-pièces. The Platinum Blond cracks at most a one inch slit of bare midriff--and in the back. The halter is low cut in back and the sides. A bow tie center front is most probably only decoration. The cape adds discussion. And high heels constrain feet.
Had she lived longer Harlow might well has migrated from the maillot to the deux-pieces that is both present during the late 1930s but also becomes more prevelent in Hollywood. But her premature death eliminates these possibilities. This is as far as she gets.
