Actions Jayne Mansfield holds her cigarette aloft in a costumes that would appear to have difficulty staying on. Flourishes partly cover her breasts, pelvis, rump, and all of her navel (1). Commentary By opaqueing the costume in the "critical areas" the designer is able to provide coverage that is independent from support. Note that this mid-1950s costume also censors the belly button.
