Hedy Lamarr Skinny Dippin'

Lake, Czechoslovakia
1933 HL3310

Costume
   Nude.

   TMLBAP.

Actions
This skinny-dipping scene (1, 2, 3, 4) in a Czech movie launches the career of Hedy Lamarr when the film is banned in America. Lamarr's plight is complicated when her horse--upon which she has draped her clothes, wanders away and she is forced to chase after it naked (5, 6, 7, 8). A workman rescues the horse, and Lamarr hides (9, 10, 11, 12) before eventually revealing herself and making love to her savior (13, 14). Lamarr becomes famous, moves to America and becomes a movie star.
An attributed stray studio nude (15).

Commentary
Ecstasy is controversial not only because of the nude swimming scene, but because the movie includes a non-pornographic depiction of sexual congress, and although nothing more than the actor's faces are shown, it depicts Lamarr coming to orgasm.
Nude swimming in the cinema has existed in the past (e.g., CB2755), and nude bathing scenes are popularized by Hollywood stars Claudette Colbert and Myrna Loy (ML3308), but nudity in the cinema gets banned until the 1960s.
