Carole Lombard Two Piece Swimsuit

Hollywood, CA
1931 CL3150

Costume
Dark halter and belted pantaloon shorts. Heels.

   TML. Bellage.

Actions
Carol Lombard "is ready for a dip in the pool at her new Beverly Hills home," writes Screen Book, aluding to "a daring new swimming suit" (1). And daring it is, looking to be either a maillot with the tummy completely cut out, or a halter and shorts affair, with heels, and way ahead of its time (2).

Commentary
Movie stars might bare their bellies in stage dance costumes, but baring them in a swimsuit is a whole new deal!
The downward slope of the ribline of the halter, suggesting it might dip to the waistline is a fashion line that will be in motion.
