Ms. Restage Bathing Dress Longsleeve Bloomered

Faux beach (studio)
c. 1850 C1850A

Costume
Black bathing dress longsleeve bloomered, with a black hat tied under the chin, black hose, and black shoes.

   None.

Actions
This restage model stands on the sand and holds a ship's wheel. The bathing dress covers most of the body, including the arms, legs, ankles, and feet. Only the face and the hands are bare (1).
The hottest erogenous zone is the ankle, which is covered only by hose.

Commentary
Layers are a major theme of this era. "The suit of this era is unquestionably modest with its full-length sleeves and ankle-length ˇpantalettes [pantletes] covered by a twin-layered ruffled skirt," states the Cole picture caption.
